On September 6, 1975 in Smolyan was opened the biggest Planetarium in Bulgaria. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the city.

In the ‘Stelar Hall’ of the Planetarium more than 50 sessions (programs) are shown, performances- fairy tales for the youngest children, scientific sessions and more.  Foreign visitors also can enjoy them in Russian, French, German, English, Greek, and Turkish.

The Planetarium works with school students from every grade, pre-school students, Physics and Geography University students and teachers in Physics and Astronomy. Special tailored practical classes are held here, with the support of methodology of learning materials.

Smolyan Planetarium is listed in the 100 Tourist Sites in Bulgaria with number 83.
