Pamporovo is proud to host the Snowboard World Cup for men and women on January 20th and 21st, 2024! It marks the first time the resort will host races of such prestigious caliber sanctioned by the FIS. The event is organized by BFSki and Pamporovo AD.
The competition will feature two races in the discipline of parallel slalom, set to take place on the challenging "Stenata" slope. Anticipation is high as participants from across the globe are expected to grace the event. Meticulous preparations are underway, overseen by the experienced race director for the Pamporovo World Cup, Viktor Gichev. The entire community of Pamporovo is gearing up to extend a warm welcome to competitors and guests, making this event the highlight of the sporting calendar for 2024 in both the resort and the region.
Esteemed athletes from around the world will be in attendance, including:
- Ester Ledecká: A three-time Olympic champion hailing from the Czech Republic. Ledecká clinched titles in parallel giant slalom at the Winter Games in PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022, along with a triumph in alpine skiing super-G in Korea. She boasts an impressive track record in the Snowboard World Cup with four overall victories and three Small Crystal Globe titles in parallel giant slalom. Ledecká's participation in the Pamporovo races marks her return to snowboarding for the new season after competing exclusively in alpine skiing World Cups. Notably, she secured victory in the parallel giant slalom at the Bansko World Cup in 2018, followed by dual triumphs in skiing and snowboarding at the Olympics in Korea.
- Ramona Theresia Hofmeister: A prominent athlete from Germany, currently leading the overall World Cup standings and a three-time recipient of the big Crystal Globe.
- Radoslav Yankov: A Bulgarian sensation and the first Bulgarian to clinch victory in the FIS Snowboard World Cup (2016). Yankov claimed the Small Globe in Parallel Giant Slalom in 2017 and currently ranks eighth in the World Cup standings for parallel slalom. Additionally, the reigning Olympic champion for men from Beijing 2022, Benjamin Karl from Austria, will be among the contenders in Pamporovo. Karl currently leads the overall World Cup standings.
- Daniela Bagoča: Leading the charge in the Small Globe for Parallel Slalom, representing Italy, Bagoča is confirmed to compete in Pamporovo. Furthermore, Roland Fischnaller, the previous holder of the big Snowboard World Cup title, will also grace the slopes of the Rhodope resort.
