Along the Arda River – Uhlovitsa Cave, Agushevi Konatsi, and Panoramic Views

Discover one of the most scenic and thrilling corners of the Rhodope Mountains on this full-day excursion that will take us underground into mysterious caves, high into the mountains to panoramic viewpoints, and deep into the heart of Rhodope tradition and cuisine.

We depart from the Tourist Information Center in Pamporovo by organized transport toward our first destination – the impressive Uhlovitsa Cave. Hidden in the rocks above the Arda River, the cave requires a short uphill walk to reach its entrance, so comfortable shoes and a warm layer are recommended – the temperature inside stays below 10°C. The cave enchants with a spectacle of stalactites and stalagmites, as well as one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in Bulgaria’s underground – the white sinter waterfall.

Next is a short stop in the nearby village of Mogilitsa, where we’ll experience the architectural beauty and historical heritage of Agushevi Konatsi – the only well-preserved Revival-era palace complex in Bulgaria, once home to Ottoman nobles.

Our journey continues with an exciting jeep safari to two panoramic viewpoints:

• Lisa Gora – a place of silence and open space, with views over endless green hills,

• and The Summit – at over 1,400 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking vistas over the most picturesque stretch of the Arda River valley – a true feast for the senses and the soul.

On the way back, we’ll stop in one of the most authentic Rhodope villages – Smilyan, known for its famous beans and home to Bulgaria’s only Bean Museum. Here, you’ll have the chance to enjoy lunch and relax in local eateries offering traditional Rhodope cuisine and dairy products from the nearby creamery.

In the late afternoon, we return to Pamporovo, full of impressions, stories, and aromas from the Rhodope Mountains.
