Get ready for an exciting and inspiring journey through the mystical corners of the Rhodope Mountains – an excursion that combines natural wonders, adrenaline, and cultural heritage.
We depart early in the morning from the Tourist Information Center in Pamporovo by organized transport. Our first stop is the dramatic Trigrad Gorge – a natural phenomenon where sheer cliffs rise more than 300 meters above the narrow mountain road. Here, we’ll visit the mysterious Devil’s Throat Cave, home to the highest underground waterfall on the Balkan Peninsula. We’ll pass through an impressive gallery known as the Great Hall and learn about the legends of Orpheus, adding an extra layer of mystique to this magical place.
Our next stop is Yagodina Cave – one of the longest and most beautiful caves in Bulgaria, spread across three levels. We’ll explore the 1.2 km tourist trail, which is well-lit and equipped with comfortable walkways. You’ll be amazed by the whimsical rock formations resembling fairy-tale figures like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Santa Claus, the Virgin Mary with the Child, and many more natural sculptures. The temperature inside the cave is constant – around 6°C – so a warm layer is recommended.
After the cave visits, we’ll have the opportunity for lunch or, optionally, an off-road jeep ride up to Mount St. Ilia, where the panoramic platform “Eagle’s Eye” is located. From here, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the endless Rhodope ridges – an unforgettable moment for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike.
On the return journey to Pamporovo, we’ll stop at the architectural reserve of Shiroka Laka – a Rhodope village with an authentic Revival-era atmosphere. We’ll visit the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the oldest in the area, and you’ll have the chance to purchase handmade souvenirs and local crafts from the village artisans.
At the end of the day, we return to Pamporovo, filled with impressions from a truly rich Rhodope adventure.
