90 Years of Pamporovo: Climatotherapy, Forest Therapy and Activities at the Resort

Following the trends of the growing need for health care, Pamporovo is reviving the region as a destination for climatotherapy, recovery, strengthening, and boosting of the immune system, in harmony with the natural resources.
Within the resort, guests can take part in an active weekly program “Forest Therapy” with daily diverse hiking and cycling tours. In the adventure park “Yazovira”, areas for activities and relaxation are designated.
All visitors can enjoy attractions suitable for both children and adults—rope garden, ninja park, outdoor fitness, fishing, children’s zipline, tubing, cycling trips, and many more. The combination of beautiful nature, excellent ski conditions, and top-class hotels is the formula for success during the winter months. Pamporovo continues to convey a sense of magic even today, in the fast-paced 21st century. In the mountain, which according to legend is the home of the Thracian singer Orpheus, the raw beauty of a place touched by the gods blends wonderfully with the warm comfort of an elite winter center.
Pamporovo offers a sufficient number of hotels to suit every taste, including two five-star establishments. Guests receive not only excellent service in modernly furnished rooms and apartments, but also access to contemporary congress halls, spa and medical centers with active programs and procedures for prevention and recovery, based on the bio-energy of the surrounding environment, high levels of negative ionization and phytoncides, crystal-clear air, silence, and tranquility.
“Tourists from both the country and abroad are increasingly appreciating our efforts to establish Chepelare Municipality as a green, digital & smart destination, which can be combined with spa, culinary, cultural, conference, wedding, wine, sports, rural, and many other forms of tourism,” shares Chepelare Mayor Boran Hadzhiev.
“After COVID-19, people turned to nature and the mountains. The number of tourists has increased in recent years, and our goal is to offer a year-round, high-quality tourist product, and to establish Chepelare Municipality as a destination for climatotherapy,” the mayor adds.
The next step forward, which outlines the successful future of the resort, will be taken from July 4 to 6, 2024. Then, in Pamporovo, a conference on the topic “A Contemporary View on Climatotherapy in Chepelare Municipality” will be held on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the resort. The forum is organized by Chepelare Municipality, in partnership with the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, and Pamporovo AD. The aim of the conference is to highlight and distinguish the opportunities of the Pamporovo resort complex and the region in the application of climatotherapy, and to provide a new and modern view of the destination through in-depth research on the topic by habilitated persons from academic circles and experts from the tourism sector from the country and abroad.
In the focus of the program are current topics related to climatotherapy, the offerings, and the history of the resort. Among them are:
• “The Contribution of Interdisciplinary Teams in the Process of Health Prevention, Treatment, Rehabilitation, and Maintaining Good Quality of Life in Combination with Climatotherapy”
• “Climatotherapy – Benefits for Children, Teenagers, and Adults”
• “Climatotherapy in Europe”, etc.

In recent decades, studies have confirmed the healing properties of the clean air in the Rhodopes. Today, the region’s picturesque and majestic landscapes, peaceful atmosphere, warm hospitality, rich traditions, and delicious cuisine have rightfully established Chepelare Municipality – the Green Heart of Bulgaria – as a sought-after destination for health and well-being through nature.
