TOUR “RED ROCK”
If you’re drawn to scenic trails, the fresh scent of ancient pine forests, and breathtaking panoramic views, the “Red Rock” tour will lead you to one of the most awe-inspiring corners of the Rhodopes!
Our adventure begins at the Tourist Information Centre in Pamporovo, where we set off southwards by organised transport towards the town of Smolyan. Just before reaching the town, we take a turn west towards the picturesque Smolyan Lakes – shimmering water mirrors scattered across the evergreen hills. At the lift junction, we embark on a hidden forest path that gradually unveils the magnificent sight of the Red Rock, towering 100 metres above us. This area is home to the largest herd of wild goats, frequently spotted scaling the steep cliffs.
After a 1-hour and 20-minute hike, we reach the summit, where we are greeted by a panoramic view that seems to stretch on forever – Smolyan and its surrounding landscapes, Kiryani Pond (also known as Fish Lake), sparkling like a mirror amidst the lush greenery, and the Rhodope peaks rolling out like an endless green carpet.
We take a moment to pause, soaking in the serenity and grandeur of the mountain, capturing the moment with photographs, and feeling the raw power of nature. Recharged and invigorated, we begin our return journey to Pamporovo.
